Success Stories
At just seven years old, Aayan from Princeton, New Jersey is already setting the stage for a remarkable academic future. A second grader at Clairmont Elementary School, Aayan was recently accepted into the Franklin Township Gifted & Talented (G&T) Program—a well-deserved recognition of his hard work, curiosity, and love for learning. With aspirations of becoming an astronaut, Aayan is already reaching for the stars—and Genie Academy is proud to play a role in helping him get there.
Before enrolling at Genie Academy, Aayan had a decent grasp on schoolwork, but math wasn’t his favorite subject. He often opted out of practicing, and two-digit addition and subtraction—especially problems involving zeros or carry-overs—were a struggle. Despite being enrolled in another program, for over a year, his progress plateaued. He would finish assignments quickly and lose interest. His scores reflected this lack of engagement. His parents knew Aayan was capable of more—they just needed to find the right learning environment to bring out his full potential.
Looking for a more engaging and challenging program, Aayan’s parents discovered Genie Academy—just ten minutes from home. The difference was clear from day one. Aayan enrolled in the Abacus program, attending weekly one-hour sessions. The interactive curriculum, hands-on learning with abacus tools, and personalized feedback through Genie’s parent portal quickly won them over.
“We love the feedback we get after every session,” shares Aayan’s dad, Piyush Satapathy. “It’s transparent, timely, and shows exactly what Aayan is doing in class. That kind of accountability and insight is something we never got with other programs.”
Aayan’s primary coaches—Ms. Sophia, Ms. Naina, and Coach Heidi—played a major role in transforming his academic mindset. The team gave consistent guidance, ensured he was using the abacus correctly, and made strategic decisions on when to transition him to mental math.
“In the beginning, the first three months were tough,” Piyush recalls. “But once he got the concept, it just clicked. Genie’s coaches emphasized doing it the right way, not just the fast way. That made all the difference.”
As Aayan mastered the abacus, he grew quicker and more confident. The struggle with carry-overs and digit alignment faded away, and soon he was tackling advanced topics like multiplication and division—months ahead of his peers.
Just six months after starting at Genie Academy, Aayan’s iReady scores skyrocketed significantly! His newfound confidence helped him excel in class, and he began raising his hand more often, eager to participate.
In September, Aayan was accepted into the Gifted & Talented Program at Franklin Township. Today, he’s thriving in a challenging curriculum designed for advanced learners, all while continuing to deepen his math skills at Genie Academy.
Aayan’s transformation isn’t limited to academics. He’s developed better time management skills, shows increased responsibility when it comes to homework, and has become more socially confident. He even balances a busy extracurricular life with ease—participating in:
“He’s become so analytical and curious,” says his dad. “He asks so many thoughtful questions. I can tell he’s truly thinking deeply about everything he learns.”
From clear communication and real-time feedback to challenging and engaging material, Genie Academy has impressed Aayan’s family every step of the way.
“I’ve already recommended Genie Academy to other parents,” Piyush says. “It gives your child that extra push, connects the dots, and really opens up their understanding. It’s everything I was missing from other programs and more. The feedback, transparency, and personalized attention—it’s amazing!”
When asked how he feels about math now, Aayan beams:
“I feel good and very confident about math and I feel proud of myself that I have grown so much. I don’t get scared of taking any test. I feel good about advanced math like multiplication and division which I have learnt in advance.”
He especially appreciates Ms. Sophia, who he says,
“Speaks slow and soft so I can understand, and she makes sure I do the abacus correctly.”
And one of his sweetest memories?
“The first time I went to Genie Academy, I was afraid and didn’t like to stay there. But Ms. Tina made me so comfortable. That was a sweet memory I will never forget.”
His advice to other students who are unsure about math:
“Go to Genie Academy! You’ll get better at math. They teach through abacus and it’s so much fun to learn!”
Aayan’s story proves that the right guidance can unlock incredible potential. If your child is ready to grow in confidence, master challenging concepts, and even qualify for Gifted & Talented programs, Genie Academy may be your best next step.
