About Us
Genie Academy, formerly Math Genie, was founded in 2008 by Mohit Jain and his wife, Naina Jain.
On a trip to India, Mohit watched local students solving math problems on an abacus, an ancient calculating tool. He saw right away how effectively it built speed, accuracy, and focus, and he decided to bring the method home to the United States.
He also knew it would need to change. To work for American children, the program had to be fun, engaging, and connected to what students are actually learning in school.
So he turned to Naina, who holds a degree in business and accounting and had completed coursework in teaching. Together, they wrote the curriculum that became Genie Academy.
