What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We do not host comments on our website’s blog posts. For that reason there is no actual collection of data for the purpose of blog comments.
When you visit https://www.genieacademy.com the webserver will automatically collect standard anonymous information. This information is used solely to understand how the website is used and to help improve it for the benefit of our users. This information is very simple.

• How you found us (Example – Google or Bing search, or a link from another site)
• Your IP address
• What pages were visited on https://www.genieacademy.com/
• The date and time of the visit as well as the duration
• Browser and version (Example – Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer)
• Operating system (Example – Windows 7, Mac OS X)

These logs include your IP address, so they are not anonymous. We use them only to understand how the site is used and to keep it working.

When you use our website, the site itself can set cookies in your browser for things such as improved speed on return visits. The cookies expire over time, and are usually eventually discarded by your browser. Your browser also allows the deletion of cookies from this or any other website.

Embedded content from other websites
Some pages on this site may include embedded content from other sites. Examples of these are YouTube videos and photos from Instagram. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. This is normal throughout the web, specially for Facebook, Instagram and YouTube logged-in users.

How we protect your data
Traffic between your browser and this website is encrypted in transit using HTTPS, which protects it from being read as it travels. Once it reaches us, we and the service providers we use can read it.

Analytics
We use web-standard Google Analytics for tracking website traffic and usage. This allows us to make decisions on what improvements we need to do on the website as well as allowing for more appropriate regular maintenance. We use Google Analytics to see how the site is used. It receives your IP address and a cookie that recognises your browser on later visits.

Facebook Pixel
We use Facebook remarketing via the Facebook Pixel for our advertising. This relies on cookies and web beacons for marketing to Facebook users. The system is managed by Facebook and governed solely by Facebook Pixel advertising consent by logged-in users. The system has no effect on non-Facebook users.

Subscriptions
Data Used: To initiate and process subscriptions, the following information is used: subscriber’s email address and the ID of the post. In the event of a new subscription being initiated, we also collect some basic server data, including all of the subscribing user’s HTTP request headers, the IP address from which the subscribing user is viewing the page, and the URI which was given in order to access the page. This server data used for the exclusive purpose of monitoring and preventing abuse and spam.

Activity Tracked: Functionality cookies are set for a duration of 347 days to remember a visitor’s blog and post subscription choices if, in fact, they have an active subscription.

SMS Communications
If you provide your mobile phone number and consent to receive text messages from Awesome Kid LLC DBA Genie Academy, we may send you sales, marketing and customer-service SMS messages related to your inquiry, your enrollment and our services.

The two ways you consent. Genie Academy sends text messages only to people who have consented, in one of two ways.

By submitting a form on our website. If you provide your mobile phone number on a Genie Academy web form, you consent to receive sales and marketing text messages about the class or program you asked about. The disclosure appears on the form itself, above the submit button, and reads:

By providing your phone number, you agree to receive text messages from Genie Academy. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Reply HELP for help.

By signing our student registration agreement. Every enrolling family signs the Genie Academy student registration agreement, in person at one of our learning centers or online. Section 23 of that agreement is express written consent to marketing and customer-service messages, and adds the surveys, feedback requests and service notifications that come with being enrolled.

We do not send text messages to anyone who has not consented in one of these two ways, and we do not buy, rent, or otherwise obtain mobile numbers for messaging.

What we send. Service alerts, if your child is enrolled. These come from our class-notification number and are about your child’s classes only — never offers:

• class cancellation and makeup notices
• class schedule and teacher-conference changes
• assessment notifications and progress updates

Sales and marketing messages, if you gave us your number on a web form or in our registration agreement. These come from a different number:

• assessment and appointment scheduling, confirmations, and reminders
• follow-up about your inquiry
• promotional offers and other information related to our tutoring services
• program satisfaction surveys and requests for feedback about your child’s experience

Message frequency. Message frequency varies based on your class and program activity. You may receive 2-3 messages per week.

How to stop messages, and how to get help. You can cancel the SMS service at any time by replying STOP to any message from us. We will send one message confirming that you have been unsubscribed, and you will receive no further SMS messages from us.

Message and data rates may apply.
We share a scrambled (hashed) form of your mobile number with advertising platforms such as Meta so we can measure which ads led to an inquiry. The hash cannot be read as a phone number by us or by them, and it is never used to send you text messages. We do not sell your mobile number or your SMS consent, and we do not send your SMS consent or opt-in information to advertising platforms. Your number is also given to the messaging provider that delivers our texts, and to service providers who support us, such as our customer-support tools. They may use it only to do that work for us.
