Success Stories
Samaira, a motivated and creative student from Montgomery, New Jersey, was recently accepted into her district’s prestigious Voyagers Gifted and Talented Program— for a third year in a row–an impressive achievement for such a young learner in one of the state’s most competitive school systems.
Since early elementary school, Samaira has always loved going to school and learning new things. Whether it’s reading, writing, or math, she brings enthusiasm and curiosity to every subject. Genie Academy is proud to have been part of her journey toward this exciting academic milestone.
In the early grades, Samaira enjoyed school but sometimes needed extra support—especially with reading and writing in the beginning. Her parents noticed that while the school curriculum was solid, it didn’t provide enough opportunities for enrichment or challenge.
“She didn’t have much homework, and we wanted her to have more assignments to stay sharp,” her mom Thanusha shared. “We were looking for something that would challenge her and help her stay ahead, especially in such a competitive school district.”
After exploring a few options, Samaira’s parents discovered Genie Academy—and were immediately drawn to its unique blend of enrichment, structure, and fun.
Samaira joined Genie Academy’s Common Core Math program, attending weekly one-hour sessions. From the very beginning, the experience clicked.
“The teachers made learning fun for her at such a young age,” her mom said. “She loved how the lessons made sense and connected to what she was already doing in school.”
Her coach, Mr. Austin played a key role in keeping her engaged and motivated, while teachers like Ms. Paola helped strengthen her math foundation. “Ms. Paola was one of Samaira’s favorite teachers,” her mom noted. “She was so nice and helpful, always teaching new concepts clearly.”
The Genie curriculum complemented Samaira’s schoolwork beautifully—offering extra challenges that matched her abilities while building skills beyond the classroom.
At Genie Academy, the focus wasn’t just on getting ahead—it was on deep understanding and lasting confidence. Samaira learned to approach each concept thoughtfully, asking questions and ensuring she understood why each step mattered.
Her weekly sessions built discipline and structure. “Young kids don’t get much homework,” Thanusha explained, “but Genie gave her consistent practice that helped her stay prepared for school assessments. It gave her an academic edge and boosted her confidence.”
All that hard work paid off.
Samaira’s performance soared—she achieved a 98th percentile score on her Spring 2025 STAR Math Assessment, placing her well above the national average. Soon after, she was accepted into Montgomery Township’s selective Voyagers Gifted & Talented Program for a third year, a testament to her growth and dedication.
Thanusha credits both Samaira’s motivation and Genie Academy for providing the right balance of structure and enrichment:
“Genie is a great supplement to what she’s already doing. It gives her confidence because she works a grade higher, giving her tools to do well in school.”
Samaira’s talents extend well beyond academics. She dances Bharatanatyam and Bollywood, plays piano, and participates in basketball and tennis outside of school. Her strong focus and time management skills—reinforced through Genie—help her balance all of these activities gracefully.
At home, Samaira’s nurturing side shines. Inspired by her aunt, a doctor, she dreams of becoming a doctor herself one day. “She loves taking care of her stuffed animals,” her mom shared proudly.
Samaira’s parents couldn’t be happier with their Genie Academy experience.
“I’ve recommended Genie to a lot of people,” her mom said. “It gives kids the structure they need when schools don’t give much homework. Genie keeps them prepared and gives them confidence before assessments. It really gives them an upper edge.”
Their advice to other parents?
“Make sure kids complete their Genie assignments at home—it helps them keep growing and moving forward. It’s worth it.”
When asked about her favorite part of Genie Academy, Samaira smiled and said:
“I like the curriculum and teachers. The teachers are really nice and knowledgeable.”
Her favorite teacher, Ms. Paola, stood out for making math both fun and understandable.
“She helped me learn new math concepts and made me feel confident for all my school tests.”
Samaira also loves Genie’s fun break-time games, especially Simon Says—a perfect balance of learning and play.
“Come to Genie,” she says. “The teachers make learning fun and help you reach your potential.”
