Your child already has been working on their mental math skills! In the beginning these skill are still a little tough so within these books we have built in mental pages!
Mental Pages Tips
1) Make sure to always look at the heading of your child's page. If it says "Mentals, like the image below, make sure they are not using their abacus at all.
2) While they are not using their abacus, some students like to count the numbers instead of using their mental abacus beads. If you see this at home, try to correct it or let your teacher know right away.
3) Look back at how to do mentals with your child in case they are still struggling with the page. The video below is extremely useful for this!
