6th Grader Gets Accepted Into Monroe NJ’s Accelerated Math Program After Transferring to Genie Academy from Kumon

6th grader Vidhi got accepted into the Accelerated Math Program after shifting to Genie Academy from Kumon. Her father, Keyur, shares why he chose Genie Academy and how it helped Vidhi excel in school.

Keyur noticed a decline in Vidhi’s academic performance, like many students her age at the height of the pandemic. Since Kumon was only available online, the limited face-to-face interactions affected her learning abilities. On top of this, Keyur noticed that the workbooks from Kumon were below what he expected for Vidhi’s grade level at the time. This motivated Keyur to enroll her in Genie Academy instead. “It wasn’t great enough because the materials of Genie Academy on curriculums were much better than what they have…the workbooks that you have are excellent for them to practice and understand the concepts. Every lesson is well-explained and has multiple examples that they can practice with,” Keyur shares.

Satisfied with the materials, he enrolled Vidhi in the reading, writing, and math programs and her abilities gradually advanced since then. In less than two years, Vidhi is now one grade level above her peers and is working on 7th-grade workbooks in Genie Academy. She even teaches some of her classmates how to solve math problems. 

Keyur thanks Genie Academy for helping Vidhi excel in her studies and ultimately get into Monroe, NJ’s Accelerated Math Program. Keyur and Vidhi mentioned that the program has rigorous qualifications, i.e. a student must have at least a 95 on all tests and must get at the top percentile of the state-wide MAP test to get in. “[Her] progress was excellent. She’s ahead in Math and Genie is helping her that way…all the teachers are very nice and helpful, also when explaining concepts to kids. Their education is excellent and their skill sets are great.” 

Likewise, Vidhi says that she enjoys learning at Genie Academy. She’s also very excited to get accelerated in Math, especially since it’s her favorite subject. 

With a dash of passion and a sprinkle of fun, Vidhi is excelling in Math. Keyur and Vidhi now wish to replicate her success in English and join the subject’s honor roll as well. With her potential and Genie Academy’s continued guidance, we're confident she can scale new peaks!
