Success Story — Khushi’s Story: “Don’t Overthink It”
When Khushi’s math grades started slipping from A’s into B-minuses, the number on the report card wasn’t the real problem — her confidence was.
Just one hour a week with Coach Takuma changed that. Instead of the single rigid method she’d learned in public school, he taught her the reasoning behind every skill, in a friendly, low-stress atmosphere where she could ask any question.
The result? A Math Gifted & Talented placement and an acceptance to Woodbridge Academy Magnet School — news she found out while at Genie, surrounded by her coaches. Now high-school bound and eyeing medical school, Khushi credits it all to four words from her coach: don’t overthink it.
The biggest win isn’t the placement — it’s the confidence to raise her hand and believe in herself again.

Meet The New Staff
We would also love to give a warm welcome to our new Coaches!
Coach Bhavya Kandra
Hello! My name is Coach Bhavya and I teach Math, Reading and Writing, and SAT Reading. I am pursuing an MA in School Psychology and strive to understand every child’s individual learning styles. I hope to make learning fun and something to look forward to each day. I will do my best to make sure your child is supported throughout their Genie Academy journey!
Coach Efrain Raices
Hi! I’m Coach Efrain, and I teach math, reading, and coding. My goal is to make learning fun for students, and to help them realize that their potential is limitless.
Everyone makes mistakes, but what’s important is that we learn from them. After all, it’s those who never give up that are able to achieve their dreams!
I aim to create a supportive environment where students can take pride in the progress they’ve made, and have some fun along the way. I look forward to celebrating each student’s small wins over time, until they compound into something great!
Free Saturday Book Club at Plainsboro
Every other Saturday. 1 PM – 2 PM. Free. The next session is September 12th.
- Grades 3–8: The Kane Chronicles: The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan. Students must finish chapters 1–11 before September 12th.
It’s never too late to join — as long as students bring their own books and have read the chapters needed before the session.
Summer Camp 2026 Recap!
This summer, our centers were full of the best kind of noise — beads clicking on abacuses, pencils working through story drafts, and cheers when a bit of code finally ran. Summer camp at Genie Academy isn’t about keeping kids busy until September; it’s a chance for your child to get ahead while it still feels like play.
Our Math and Abacus campers built speed and confidence, turning drills that felt impossible in June into second nature by August.
In Reading and Writing, kids worked at their own level and drafted work they were genuinely proud of. And our Coders went from “what’s a loop?” to building real projects they couldn’t wait to show off.
Along the way there were crowns and wands to build, play-money math to haggle over, and a lot of laughing.
Best of all, they beat the “summer slide” without ever feeling like they were in school — heading into fall with sharper skills and a real head start. This summer, our campers proved that a little curiosity in July turns into a big head start come September!
