Mariam Selected for Gifted and Talented 

Mariam, who has been working with us since she was a kindergartener, has been accepted into the Gifted and Talented program for her school district. She is one of four girls in her school who was admitted into this competitive program. 

When Mariam began with us as a kindergartener, she was already a great reader. She worked hard during her time with us, and in second grade, she was reading at a fourth grade level. However, Mariam had goals to improve even further. As she worked with her Genie Academy teachers, she has been able to improve her reading comprehension, as well as her overall reading skill. At school, her teachers have noticed her impressive reading skills, and Mariam is often chosen to read aloud in class. Currently in third grade, she is about two years above grade level in reading ability.

She has also worked hard to practice various writing skills, including expanding her vocabulary and improving her grammatical knowledge. 

Mariam’s mother says she is a competitive student who is always pushing herself to get better and reach her goals.  She is doing very well in school, and is a wonderful independent worker. She is an avid reader, and early in her academic life, Mariam’s teachers knew that she was academically skilled.
