Success Stories
When Krishiv first started at Genie Academy as a 1st grader, he wasn't interested. A few classes later, he wanted to go every single week. Now a 4th grader, Krishiv has been accepted into Franklin Township's Gifted and Talented program, with its focus on engineering, technology, and science. According to his dad, math has become his best skill.
Before Genie Academy, Krishiv was struggling in math. He was young, still building the basics, and those basics weren't sticking the way they needed to.
His dad, Jay, didn't just want him to catch up. He wanted Krishiv to learn advanced math and to get ahead.
"We want him to learn advanced math. I see him already moving onto 6th grade math, so we want him to be ahead. Genie has brought him to that advancement." — Jay
Jay was confident in Genie's curriculum from the start. The variety of approaches reminded him of his own education growing up, when students learned several ways to tackle a problem rather than just one.
"I like that from Genie, you have good combos for many different skills." — Jay
Looking back at Krishiv's progress year after year, Jay calls Genie Academy a big factor in his son's success. He has since referred many families to Genie for that reason.
Coach Heidi, who teaches Krishiv math at Genie Academy, helped him through one of his toughest topics: division. When one method didn't click, she showed him different approaches and techniques until he mastered it.
Coach Rima, who worked with Krishiv in Reading Genie, is another coach he's loved, and Jay says the entire staff has been consistently great.
What Jay values most is that Genie's coaches don't just push forward. They go back.
"Genie Academy goes back and fills the gap and helps with the foundations. I really appreciate that. That's what I like about Genie staff." — Jay
At first, Krishiv wasn't excited about extra classes. That changed quickly. After a few sessions he started getting into it, and soon he didn't want to miss a single week.
"He likes a challenge." — Jay
Krishiv learned so many different ways to multiply that he now picks the technique that fits each problem. He kept asking to take diagnostic tests just to see how far he could go. He has even learned to work through repetitive practice and, as his dad puts it, accept it and enjoy doing it.
Since those early days, he has been on target or above in his class, consistently.
Accepted into Franklin Township's Gifted and Talented program, which focuses on engineering, technology, and science.
Math is now his strongest subject, and he's already moving on to 6th grade math as an early 4th grader.
His reading is right where it needs to be, and he's starting to get very excited about science, a perfect match for a STEM-focused G&T program.
Krishiv is a brown belt in karate and plays soccer. Jay sees the same focus and confidence he's built in math carrying over into both, and his confidence keeps growing as he masters new skills.
He's also responsible with his time. He finishes his homework every day right after school, then plays.
And he's stepping up as a leader. Krishiv wrote an essay to earn a spot on his school's safety patrol because he wants to lead.
"He will take the challenge and he will do it." — Jay
Ask Krishiv what he likes best, and it comes back to the challenge of getting better:
"My favorite part of Genie Academy is when you learn new skills. I also like my classmates and the curriculum." — Krishiv
He's quick to credit his coaches, and he remembers where he started with each of them:
"I used to do Reading Genie with Coach Rima, and my most helpful math coach is Ms. Heidi." — Krishiv
Division was his sticking point, and Coach Heidi is the one who got him through it:
"I struggled with division, but Coach Heidi helped me with different approaches and techniques. I was able to master that." — Krishiv
The growth he's proudest of is in confidence and in math:
"I've grown a lot of confidence during my years at Genie Academy. I have a lot of advantages in test-taking skills because of how many tests I've done here. I used to be kind of bad at math, and after these classes I've grown a lot. I almost have mastery of it now." — Krishiv
And the moment he'll never forget is the one that proved how far he'd come:
"One special moment is when I passed my first book at Genie and went from 1st grade books to 5th grade books." — Krishiv
His advice for a student who's struggling or on the fence is encouraging and matter-of-fact:
"I would say that they still have good skills at some stuff and just have to grow in the rest, by taking classes like Genie Academy." — Krishiv
Jay doesn't hold back:
"Genie Academy rocks. I'm so happy about the experience here." — Jay
He also appreciates how accommodating Genie has been with scheduling makeup classes, and how the coaches keep Krishiv reviewing and fine-tuning his skills.
"Thank you for all the support and guidance." — Jay
Krishiv started at Genie Academy as a 1st grader who wasn't interested. Today he's a 4th grader in the Gifted and Talented program who asks for challenges. Next up, Jay plans to add abacus to sharpen his skills even further, and he's already looking ahead to prep school for high school.
This is the power of discovering the genius your child was born to be. For Krishiv, it took a strong foundation, coaches who went back to fill the gaps, and a love of a good challenge.
If your child is ready to build confidence, stay ahead of the curve, and unlock their full potential, Genie Academy could be the missing piece.
